
Ozempic is a weekly injection that helps lower blood sugar by helping the pancreas make more insulin. It is not approved for weight loss, but some physicians prescribe it to be used for weight loss.
The medicine is intended for the use of Type 2 diabetics. Although the drug is used to treat diabetes, it keeps gaining attention as celebrities, a tech mogul and TikTok influencers have described taking it to lose weight in short time frames.
Celebrity Sharon Osborne posted a photo of her gaunt frame as a result of using the injection on social media.
The comments were loaded with diabetics stating they cannot get access to the drug because of back orders presumably because of the celebrity craze surrounding it.
It will be very interesting to see what the long term effects of using this medication without medical need? Commenters were mostly in agreement that that drug should not be prescribed or dispensed without the proper diagnosis.
